This DVD provides 5 segments at 10 minutes a piece. Each segment is broken down to target specific areas of improvement. And much like the other 10 Minute Solution titles, each 10 minute segment can be combined and used in a customized workout routine in an order to the users liking. By design the block segments provide a highly customizable routine with each use that allow the user focus on specific goals that can fit into any schedule and time restraints.
The first segment is a fat burning segment called Fat Burning Funk. Specific hip hop dance moves help melt away fat. The second segment is called Funky Grooves and is designed to energize the body and gets the blood flowing. The third is Body Re-mix and is a break up routine to help keep the exercise from being mundane while still burning calories.
The fourth segment is called Cardio Street Heat and is an intense calorie burning session. A fifth session is an introductory segment to introduce the workout sessions and motivate the user.

Hip Hop Dance Mix is a breath of fresh air that breaks up the normalcy of regular exercise routines. Many of the users that try this DVD love how engaging the trainer and routines are. This is more of a dance routine though, and less of an exercise regimen. I found multiple people, like K. Mckenna, that said "there is a learning curve associated with use". These dance moves do take some practice and adjustment before fully realizing the impact of the workout.
The instructor is also energetic and fun. She provides great, unforced smiles and motivation through each segment that isn’t passed off as fake. Her instructions are clear and precise, which help a lot with a more skill based routine like dancing.
How Much Weight Will I Lose?
Aside from Robert’s wife mentioned above, not many people really commented on how much weight they lost or if losing any at all. Most users that I found were beginners trying to make their way back into a normal exercise routine to manage their weight. And most of these users stated they broke a sweat, but weren’t overly tired or exhausted after completing the segments.
With that said, this doesn’t appear to be a high impact, high heart pumping workout routine. Calories won’t be burned off without getting the heart rate in the proper zone. Without burning those calories, not much weight will be lost.
Hip Hop Dance Mix has a lot of movements and maneuvers to learn and perform. I would advise caution for any person with bad knees or backs. All though this DVD is low impact, a lot of twisting and bending is performed. Because of that there is a risk of injury.

Problems And Complaints
Hip Hop Dance Mix is a lot of fun. There is very little argument there. But a lot of fun isn’t going to burn a lot of calories. At times, this routine is just too low impact. I found to many beginners stating how they could get through each segment with little trouble. And each segment has to long of a break in between to really push that heart rate up. Other programs, like Zumba, are also based on dancing but provide a much more aerobic exercise.
The music can also leave something to be desired. Different genres and styles of music are a thing of taste. If a person can’t get into the music, they are not going to be able to get into the routine.
