Clipart is a very valuable resource for web designers, ad managers or anyone looking to add a little fun to their Facebook page. You can create postcards and special email messages. Wherever you want to add a fun animated gif, this site can provide you with the graphics.

Clipart.com versus iStockPhoto

The first company I looked at was iStock Photo. The pricing system is different than ClipArt.com. They have a pay as you go system, so you only have to buy what you need. But, for larger projects you can buy a subscription. The prices are quite high compared to Clipart.com. However, iStock Photo does have an impressive collection of clipart, as well as video, audio and flash animations. iStock Photo is credited as being the original microstock company, launching about three years before any other company offering microstock photos. The company buys the rights to the clipart, so if you are very artistic or take great photos, you can make a nice living selling your work for others to use. The pictures are royalty free. That means you will be paid when someone downloads your work, but you will not get residual income each time that person uses the photo.

Clipart vs Classroom Clipart

The second company I researched was Classroom Clipart. This is more of a fun site. Compared to ClipArt, there is much less variety, but you will still find over 100,000 images–plenty of good artwork mainly for school projects.

ClassroomClipart.com is a very child friendly site. You can be confident any thing you or your child gets from this site will not be vulgar or offensive. There are also multiple links to other child friendly sites.  If you don't mind the discreet copywrite watermark, all images are free. For a nickel a day, you can access all graphics, illustrations and photos without the watermark, and get unlimited downloads.  Pretty good deal!   For serious projects you will find more useful artwork at ClipArt.com.
