Cosme-de.com is an international online shopping site for cosmetics and skin care products. The site is owned by Cosme De Net Group, a company that was founded ten years ago by a Japanese entrepreneur. Cosme De Net Group’s home office is in Hong Kong, and it also has offices in Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, and New York.
The website, Cosme-de.com, came onto the scene in 2007, and its logo is a butterfly, representing beauty, elegance, and freedom. It carries a wide array of products in a seemingly endless number of brands, including names like Agent Provocateur, Britney Spears, Estée Lauder, Givenchy, Olay, Tommy Hilfiger, and Zino.

What Differentiates Cosme-de.com from other Beauty Stores? – Key Features and Benefits
Here is what makes Dosme-de stand out:

Unlike some other websites of this genre, Cosme-de.com offers loyalty coupon discounts. For example, if you purchase $40 twice in one month, you will receive 2% off discount your next month’s purchase. This can save you money, particularly if you buy these types of products on a fairly regular basis.

Cosme-de.com Cons – Disadvantages

Although international shipping is free, your purchase may be subject to customs—which you have to pay. I could find nowhere on the site some information that allowed me to determine whether or not I would have to pay customs on the specific product I was buying, let alone an estimate of what the cost would be. The website should be able to provide you with this information.
- The return policy is not very consumer friendly. You have to obtain prior authorization from the company, and the merchandise has to be returned unopened. I don’t know how the company expects us to determine if we like the product if we haven’t been able to use it. Some merchandise, like that found under the “Best Value” tab mentioned previously, cannot be returned.

How Does Cosme-de.com Compare To Other Beauty Stores?
I looked at a couple of other websites that are in direct competition with Cosme-de.com. The first was SkinEnergizer.com.
Cosme-de vs Skin Energizer
SkinEnergizer.com does not have nearly as large a selection of brands as Cosme-de.com in most categories. It carries more than the single weight loss product (diet coffee) and nail care product (strengthener) that you can find on Cosme-de.com, though. It doesn’t have a loyalty program based on order frequency and purchase amounts like Cosme-de.com. Instead, it offers its customers a free 15% lifetime discount on purchases if they register with the site.
Unlike Cosme-de.com, which offers free worldwide shipping on all orders, SkinEnergizer.com offers free shipping only on domestic orders exceeding $75. Their return policy is more generous than that of Cosme-de.com, however. Although they, too, have a 30-day return policy, I could find nothing that indicated the product had to be unopened in order to be returned. Nor do you have to contact SkinEnergizer.com for return authorization as you do with Cosme-de.com.
Cosme-de vs Skin Beauty Mall
The second website I investigated was SkinBeautyMall.com. Although it carries more brands than can be found on SkinEnergizer.com, it too falls short of the brand names offered on the Cosme-de.com site. It doesn’t offer cosmetic products like Cosme-de.com does, either. It carries only a limited number of mineral-based cosmetics. SkinBeautyMall.com does not have a loyalty program per se, but it does give its customers 10% off orders of $50 or more.
The prices on .cosme-de.com seem to be higher than they are on SkinBeautyMall.com. A 60-pad jar of Dr. Brandt Blemishes No More Cleansing Pads sells for $40 on Cosme-de.com and only $25 on SkinBeautyMall.com.
SkinBeautyMall.com provides free, same-day, priority mail shipping, regardless of the size of the order, but that is only on domestic orders, not on international shipments as is the case with .cosme-de.com. It accepts returns within 14 days of the purchase date, which is comparable to the return policy of .cosme-de.com, at least for domestic purchasers, when you consider the difference in shipping times. You do not have to get prior authorization to return an item, and the item does not have to be unopened. There has to be only at least 75% of it remaining.
What Is the Cost?
The prices of products on Cosme-de.com seem to be higher than they are elsewhere. As I noted above, the same jar of cleansing pads was a full $15 cheaper on BeautySkinMall.com. I also found a Clinique moisturizer set that was identical to one that I had recently purchased marked down to $79 from $99 on BeautySkinMall. I paid $48 for it in a department store just a week ago and got a cosmetic bag and an extra Clinique product free with my purchase.

The website offers free shipping worldwide. However, as noted earlier, you may have to pay customs on your order. For purchases in U.S. dollars, Cosme-de.com accepts the following forms of payment: Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, Amazon Payments. It has a 30-day return policy, but you must contact the company for return authorization, and the product cannot have been opened. There are no returns accepted on promotional items or “Best Value” items.
What Are Others Saying? Testimonials – Feedback – Comments
The external reviews I read were overwhelmingly positive. Customers praised the selection, prices, and delivery times offered by Cosme-de.com. The only two negative comments I read regarded an inaccurate tracking system and the fact that one person had to pay tax on his purchase, which made the product the same price as he could have purchased it for in a store.
