Do You Need Motivation To Lose Weight? Check Out These Techniques!

February 17, 2009 by admin Leave a Comment

Staying motivated is unquestionably one of the most difficult things to do on your quest to lose weight and create a fitter, healthier you.

Getting up early to go to the gym, eating right, even though you crave that chunk of chocolate cake with every breath you take and staying in the right frame of mind to achieve a good workout are just a few of the stumbling blocks you may encounter.

Keep in mind that millions of people are travelling along the same weight loss road as you are. They struggle each and every day with their decision, yet somehow find the strength to go on and achieve their goals. They need motivation to lose weight, and so do you and that’s okay. In fact, it’s perfectly natural.

Below you’ll find a list of motivational tools that you can use on a daily basis that will help you lose weight and achieve your goals.

1. Take measurements every week.

If you’ve gained muscle mass, but lost fat, you may find that the scale says you’ve gained weight, which can be disheartening. However, you can’t fool a tape measure! Seeing proof that you’re making progress can really help motivate you to keep on doing what you’re doing.

2. Find a buddy to workout with.

Studies have shown that we tend to work harder if we’re accompanied by someone when we do our workouts. When you don’t feel like working out, it’s your buddy’s job to keep you motivated and vice versa.

3. Keep a diary of every workout.

As time progresses, you can compare what you could do when you started to what you can do now. Chances are very high that you’ll be able to perform much better now, which will help motivate you to keep striving towards excellence.

4. Change exercise routines often.

This will not only prevent you from hitting a plateau, but it will also stave off boredom. Boredom is an enemy of motivation, and you certainly don’t want to invite him in. Keep your workouts entertaining, yet intense.

5. Hang out with people who are health conscious.

It’s hard not to break down if you’re surrounded by temptation. By chumming around with health conscious people, you remove that temptation.

6. Yes, the mirror can be a friend as well as an enemy.

You’ll be able to see the results of your hard work directly in the mirror, which can really help you stay motivated. You can also feel the difference in the fit of your clothing. Seeing the results of your hard work and dedication can be one of the biggest motivators of all time.
