My DOCUcopies.com Review
DOCUcopies offers a full line of copy services from their Wisconsin printing shop. They have been in the color copying business since the 1980’s. They pride themselves on personal customer service that is not an automated system or an overseas call center, but a real customer service representative that is assigned to each order they receive. Instead of analog printing, they use a digital system to print digital color copies as well as black and white. They also respect the environment by buying their paper only from American paper companies which have a specific set of environmental standards. And since their business is one that includes “waste” because of their products, they recycle as much as they can –even empty printer toner bottles.
What is Docucopies Mainly Known For?
Docucopies is known for their inexpensive Color Copies and Digital Printing. Some of you may have watched their funny commercial on TV. You have probably recognized that the actors are 1969 AFL-NFL Champion Bob Stein, former Timberwolf John Thomas, and former Timberwolves President.
Their primary business is color copies, but they handle much of the collating/binding that is expected of a copy service. Their website offers extensive instructions on how to make the most of their various offerings. Their list of services is quite extensive:
• Color Copies/Black and White Copies
• Stapled Booklets and Catalogs
• Spiral/Comb/Perfect Bound Books
• Postcards
• Printed Envelopes
• Business Cards
• Label/Stickers
• Magnets
• T-Shirts
• Design Services
• Variable Data Printing (VDP) (bulk mailing)
• Mailing Services
• Folding/Drilling/Cutting/Shrink Wrap
Is DOCUcopies Worth it? – Key Features and Benefits
-
DOCUcopies is a full service shop. They offer extensive information on their website to make certain you know what you are ordering from them.
-
There is no minimum order. If you have a really small job, this is a company that will take care of it.
-
For orders of $150 or more, they offer free UPS shipping. Since paper is heavy, shipping costs can be substantial on large orders.
-
They are a green-friendly company. Their standard paper stock is 25% post-consumer recycled and they offer 100% post-consumer recycled if that is important to you.
- They accept payment by the major credit cards or by PayPal. This can help get the order in place quickly.
DOCUcopies Cons—Disadvantages
They ship only to the contiguous U.S. states though they make shipping to Canada via UPS an option.
Their website would look more credible and trustworthy if it displayed a McAfee Secure label or a VeriSign.

How Does DOCUcopies Compare to Similar Merchants?
I looked into two different color printing companies which are in direct competition with DOCUcopies.
The first company I looked at was Spinnprint. Their list of services is not as extensive as DOCUcopies though they consider themselves the #1 online digital document printing company. They also offer a flat fee shipping price of $12 for orders that are less than $150. Their price for 25000 color copies of a banner the size of 8.5 X 11 is 5 cents each which is the same compared to DOCUcopies price. Their FAQ page is very brief and probably does not answer many of the questions someone wanting to get color copies may have.
The second company I looked at was Color Copies USA. Their price for 25000 color copies of something the size of 8.5 X 11 is 4 cents each. This was the least expensive I was able to find. Color Copies USA does offset printing as well as digital and for that reason, they offer trade show banners (including retractable ones) and signs. They even offer laminated carrying cases for the retractable banners. Their website is filled with videos and content to help the prospective customer make the most of their color copies.
What is The Cost?
DOCUcopies offers 25000 copies at 5 cents each, which is pretty much the standard for every color copier except Color Copies USA which are 1 cent cheaper. They offer 5000 to 24999 at 6 cents each, and 1000 color copies at 7 cents each.
They also offer significant coupon discounts which are always on the front page of their site and are changed frequently. When I looked at the site, the coupon offers were:
- 20% off envelopes,
- 15% off labels/stickers,
- 15% off books and booklets, and
- 10% off jobs over $250.
All orders have a $7 setup, though there is no minimum order. For more information on pricing visit their website or call them at 1-877-222-4842 (toll free).
What Are Others Saying? Testimonials—Feedback—Comments
DOCUcopies has almost no bad press online. One instance of refusing to print something they regarded as obscene seems to have caused the only negative comments that I found.
On their site, they present ten user testimonials compete with the name of the person who submitted it and the date they received it. All of those currently there are from the present month. All other comments found were positive, both for pricing and for customer service.
