Pilates is an amazing way to get trimmed and toned. The movements in pilates challenge my body in a way that an exercise machine can’t. Controlled and steady movements push the body, making the muscles firmer while burning fat.

How Does Element Work?
Brook Siler designed Element as a beginner’s guide for pilates that is geared towards weight loss. Routines incorporate a good mix of pilates and cardio that is easy for a beginner to use but still offers a challenge to those more accustomed to pilates.
This DVD includes an introduction, tutorial, cardio, and mat exercises. The cardio routine will run about 18 minutes with the remainder of the DVD performing straight pilates.
What Are Others Saying?
Brook Siler is a highly accredited pilates instructor. She has trained celebrities such as Kirsten Dunst, Lauren Hutton and Madonna. It comes as no surprise that people love her DVD. It’s clear cut and challenging without being overbearing.
Fran Heller and Tamara Shelton said "the DVD was easy to follow and understand". Brook has a way of explaining the mechanics behind every maneuver that make each exercise simple. At times the routines can be a little fast paced though.
The exercises in Element are a little past beginner but not at intermediate levels. This allows new users some challenge with plenty of room to grow and a seasoned person a nice recap that is still able to provide a good workout.
How Much Weight Will I Lose?
Pilates is a way of toning and trimming the body. No trainer can offer hard numbers of how many pounds I will lose. Every person is different and every person requires different challenges.
With that being said, any work I put into the routines I will get back. Brook has designed Element specifically for weight loss. With proper exercise and a good diet, weight will drop and my body will become more toned.
I highly suggest consulting a doctor before performing regular exercise. Check for any health conditions or requirements that may inhibit the ability to exercise or endanger health.

Problems And Complaints
Brook Siler is an excellent pilates instructor, but at the end of the day a DVD is still a DVD. Element is a little difficult for true beginners. First time users may find this hard to use or follow and become frustrated with use. A person who has taken a couple classes will find this DVD much easier to follow.
Gudiya said "she just could not connect with the instructor". She found the video boring and hard to follow. She quickly gave up using Element.

How Does Element Rate Overall?
I can’t recommend DVDs as a sole weight loss regimen because the body can become accustomed to the routine and start to plateau with results. But Element is instructed by an instructor with many accreditations. Brook Siler is a skilled and clear vocational pilates coach.
The DVD is fairly cheap. And Pilates has real effects. I would recommend this DVD as a cheap alternative to a class to see if you like pilates. I would also recommend this DVD as an extra tool in your fitness tool box for a rainy day or a change in pace. Element is a well produced pilates instructional DVD.
