My Fossil Review
Fossil designs, develops, markets, and distributes watches and other fashion merchandise under a number of proprietary brands, such as FOSSIL®, RELIC®, MW MICHELE®, and ZODIAC®. It also offers watches under other brands, including ADIDAS®, BURBERRY®, DKNY®, and MARC®, under special licensing agreements.
When it was first founded in 1984, Fossil’s business was exclusively in fashion watches. Since that time, the company has expanded the product lines of its FOSSIL® and RELIC® brands, and it introduced FOSSIL Jeans in 2000. Its products are sold in both department stores and specialty stores in ninety different countries and through its internet store at Fossil.com.
I found a variety of products categories on its website that target both men and women, such as:

Is Fossil Worth It? – Key Features and Benefits
Fossil.com is my merchant of choice for the following reasons:

I think the greatest feature is the "size and fit" guide that the website provides. In addition to providing specifics on how to take your own body measurements, there are even tips for choosing a sunglass style based on the shape of your face. I also found the discussion on the differences between types of sunglass lenses to be educational.
Fossil.com Cons – Disadvantages

Some of the site’s features took a while to load, and at one point I received a message that fossil.com had stopped running due to a “long-running script.” I’m not sure what that means, but I was able to refresh the website and continue browsing it after waiting patiently for a bit.
- There is only the ability to enlarge the view of some of the products on the website while multiple views are available for other products. I was only able to see an enlarged version of apparel items that interested me, but numerous views were available for watches and footwear. I didn’t see a sole view provided on any of the footwear, however.

How Does Fossil Compare To Similar Merchants?
I looked at a couple of other websites that are in direct competition with Fossil. The first was 6pm.com.
Fossil versus 6pm
Like Fossil, 6pm.com carries men’s and women’s apparel, shoes, handbags, sunglasses, watches, jewelry, and accessories. It offers a more extensive selection in most of these categories than Fossil does, and it also carries a line of kids’ merchandise, as well as electronics and beauty items. However, unlike Fossil, 6pm.com is a retailer only. It does not design or develop any of the products that it sells on its website. It ships only within the U.S., and thus does not have the international presence that Fossil does.
6pm.com provides multiple views of all its products, including shoe soles, which is an area in which I think Fossil’s website could be improved, and it offers free standard shipping, regardless of the order size, whereas Fossil offers free overnight shipping, but only for purchases over $100. Fossil has a 90-day return policy, compared to the 30-day return policy offered by 6pm.com.
Fossil versus Guess
The second website I investigated was Guess.com. Guess, like Fossil, designs, markets, and distributes its product lines, which includes complete collections of men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel items. The company grants licenses to manufacturers and distributors for a number of other products it offers, such as watches, handbags, and footwear. Its products are sold in both brick and mortar stores and on its website. Multiple views of all its items are displayed, which is not the case on the Fossil website. I found multiple views of only some of the Fossil product lines.
There is a sizing chart on the Guess website with instructions on how to take your own measurements similar to the one on the Fossil website, but Fossil’s instructions are a little more detailed. Guess is currently offering free standard shipping on orders over $75, but that is for a limited time only. Normally, customers will pay $7.95 for standard shipping via UPS. Fossil’s return period is longer—90 days compared to the 30-day period offered to Guess customers.
What Is the Cost?
The cost of Fossil’s products varies greatly by category and specific product. Prices of some representative products are:

Items must be unworn and unwashed, and you need to save a copy of your original sales receipt or packing invoice to ensure that you receive a full reimbursement of your purchase price.
What Are Others Saying? Testimonials – Feedback – Comments
To see what others are saying about Fossil, I looked at Amazon. Amazon lists hundreds (if not thousands) of Fossil products, including handbags, watches, and apparel. I was really impressed by the very high ratings the vast majority of products have received by people who purchased Fossil products from Amazon. Check Amazon’s Fossil Store for customer reviews and the latest arrivals in Fossil Clothing & Accessories.
While most buyers praise the elegant and modern design and classy style of Fossil products on Amazon, a close look at other sites shows that customer reviews are a little mixed. Some customers who purchased watches remarked on the durability and nice appearance of their purchases, while others liked neither.
Among the watch problems I read about were complaints about faulty stems and other components. I didn’t read any major complaints about other types of products purchased on Fossil.com, but there were numerous complaints about the online ordering system and the customer service, including the inability to track your order on line, being charged for duplicate orders, and the refusal of customer service representatives to listen to complaints.
