Nobody likes being called a dummy. But I confess, when it comes to exercising, the title is probably a fairly accurate one for me. It takes a lot for me to feel motivated enough to work out, and beyond that, there aren't many work out methods that I am familiar with enough to feel comfortable performing regularly to achieve significant weight loss.
Kettlebells would probably not be my first choice, but perusing the enthusiastic reviews for Sarah Lurie's book, Kettlebells for Dummies, made me think twice: could I be a dummy for not giving kettlebells a chance?
How Does Kettlebells For Dummies Work?
First, a quick description for those of us who know next to nothing about this trendy exercise technique. Kettlebells are small, hand-held weights that provide a workout that builds overall strength, endurance, along with cardiovascular exercise.
Kettlebell proponents believe that this workout can work more muscles and provide more calorie burning than similar workouts — as much as 1,000 calories an hour!
Since this is part of the “For Dummies” series, author Sarah Lurie provides a beginner's view of the Kettlebell phenomenon, covering the basics while providing more advanced tips and advice.

Problems and Complaints
In my research, I did not encounter any negative comments about Kettlebells for Dummies itself. High praise indeed! However, as noted above, readers did have issues with the cost of kettlebells, and some felt that a book is not the ideal method for learning the proper techniques for their use.
For those already interested in kettlebells and willing to make the most of a book on the subject, Kettlebells for Dummies appears to be an excellent choice.
Is The Kettlebells For Dummies Better Than Other Kettlebell Workout Books?
Like most people, I am quite familiar with the “For Dummies” series. This series of books always provide a beginner's point of view on a subject that may be daunting or difficult to understand at first.
Lurie's book does not veer from this, providing easy to understand techniques and tips. Beyond this, the author also provides more advanced information so that the reader can utilize the book even as they move beyond the beginner phase.
This breadth of coverage seems to give this book an edge over all of the other books on the subject out there.
How Does Kettlebells For Dummies by Sarah Lurie Rate Overall?
