Dr. Paul T. Cirangle
Dr. Cirangle is the only Center of Excellence surgeon in the United States practicing in both Hawaii and California. He is a pioneer and thought leader in the field of laparoscopic and minimally-invasive surgery, presenting his work in the field both in the United States and internationally. His areas of expertise in bariatric surgery include laparoscopic bariatric surgery (surgery for the treatment of obesity) and laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery (surgery of the esophagus, stomach, colon and intestine).
Dr. Cirangle is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the International College of Surgeons (ICS), and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and serves as chairman of the Public Information Committee for that society. He holds an academic appointment as an assistant professor of surgery at The Uniformed Services University School of Medicine.

Dr. Stephen Fowler
Medical Director and board-certified surgeon Dr. Stephen Fowler received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts and his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine in Boston. He completed his residency at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. After residency, he moved to Hawaii and founded the Surgical Weight Loss Institute in cooperation with Castle Medical Center. In September 2009, Dr. Fowler, ALOHA Surgery, and Castle Medical Center received the Centers of Excellence (COE) title from the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery ASMBS. Dr. Fowler concentrates solely on surgical weight loss as part of a structured comprehensive program. He is the first surgeon in Hawaii to perform the single-incision laparoscopic lap band procedure.
