Lean1 Review by Nutrition 53

February 9, 2012 by Jessica Montrose 1 Comment

Meal replacement shakes seem like one of the oldest weight loss tricks in the book. But unlike other “tricks” in the weight loss world, this one actually seems to work: I know many people who have lost and kept off the weight using meal replacement shakes. To me, it doesn't seem sustainable, but many others find the concept helpful because it certainly reduces time spent on meal planning!

For me, the idea of chugging a chalky, bland meal replacement shake is even more unappealing than remaining at my current weight. Lean1 powder claims to be a great-tasting shake that helps keep you lean, so I did some poking around to see what actual users have to say about the product.

How Does Lean1 Work?

Below is a short video made by the creator of The Lean1 and four-time Super Bowl champion Bill Romanowski who carefully explains why this diet shake is not only a weight loss product but a lifestyle product as well. He gives the ingredients and features of Lean1 and also, the benefits of this product.

The problem most of us run into when attempting to lose weight is simple: unsatisfied hunger. Hunger tests our will power at a time when we are vulnerable. Enter the meal replacement: whether a shake, bar, or even a pill, the concept is the same.

If we are able to avoid hunger pangs, overcoming poor dieting willpower is significantly simpler. Lean1 adds organic fruit and vegetable extracts plus plant sterols, which gives it a definite leg up as a meal replacement.

Does Lean1 Really Deliver?

My research has shown that two factors are a key in an efficient meal replacement shake: effectiveness and flavor. Users like B.E. Escontrias found the Lean1 to be effective on both counts. The majority of users praised, or at least found tolerable, the flavor of the shake.

Effectiveness was somewhat tougher to measure, but many found that the product curbed their appetite and satisfied cravings. While these endorsements may not sound stellar, weight loss products frequently draw harsh criticisms, and any admission of effectiveness should be viewed with this in mind.

Will It Help Me Lose Weight?

Below is a video where Bill Romanowski himseld in addition to showing how to mix up a Lean1 shake he describes the case of some prominent profile women from the field of entertainment who successfully lost their weight.

Like most products in the weight loss industry, meal replacements are controversial. Some dieters swear by them — as I mentioned earlier, I know many of these dieters. Others find the taste or effectiveness of the meal replacements to be questionable.

And let’s face it: no matter how effective a meal replacement shake is, few of us will drink it if we don’t enjoy (or at a minimum, tolerate) the taste. Lean1 has one thing going for it– it seems to straddle an effective line between taste and hunger satisfaction.

Yayamom finds it more than tolerable; she says it's like “having a treat” each time she drinks it! Because of this, it is easier for me to recommend this than other similar products.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
• Meal replacement shakes are a simple and stable way to stimulate weight loss (the same amount of calories each time, with no weighing foods or counting out the calories in individual ingredients).
• Convenient.
• In general, users enjoyed the flavor.
• Better than average hunger satisfaction.

Cons:
• A handful of users disliked the taste of the product.
• Some users found the cost prohibitive.

Problems and Complaints

Lean1 is effective in increasing weight loss for the majority of users. Critics of Lean1, like Shroyerd, found the shakes prohibitively expensive and disliked the taste. Others simply found that the reduction of hunger pangs was not enough to curb their appetites.

Is Lean1 Better Than Other Weight Loss Products?

The weight loss market is incredibly competitive and fraught with controversy. While meal replacement products are not nearly so controversial as pills or fad diet books or videos, they still have their detractors.

It is incredibly difficult to predict the effectiveness of a particular product, as it may depend on a massive array of factors specific to each user. Still, overall the Lean1 meal replacement shake is a solidly reviewed product with a substantial group of satisfied customers.

How Does Lean1 Rate Overall?

Overall, reviewers gave Lean1 an impressive 4 star rating out of 5 possible stars. Reviews were decidedly positive on the whole. Users were largely satisfied with the product’s appetite curbing and flavor, though reviews were not unanimous on the flavor. Some users also took issue with the cost.

    Some meal replacement drinks
Some meal replacement drinks are good, especially when you add fresh fruit to them. But they are just that. When you decide you had enough of drinking them and/or are satisfied with your weight loss you will not drink them anymore and then the weight creeps back on…in some cases worse than when you first started your weight loss efforts.

The only real way to lose weight is to just go at it with determination and goals.

I know that I have tried many shakes and there is only one program that I really like, but it costs a fortune and you cannot find it on Amazon or any other popular venue. The nutritional values and health benefits are what attracted me to it in the first place. But, I won’t divulge that information here.

Overall, I think that shakes are just a substitute and not a healthy way to lose weight.
