Debi Gerhart, Philadelphia, PA
I would love to introduce myself. My name is Debi and I am a work from home momma to 4 kids. We live outside of Philadelphia in a teeny tiny town. My husband and I have been together since I was in high school. He has been with me through all the ups and downs of life.
I have always struggled with my weight.
Food was my go to comfort. I would always lose the weight but then it would come back. Sometimes it would come back, and then some. I would start to eat badly again because most of the diets I would go on were very restrictive. I would stick to them for a while but then I would slip up. Once I would slip up, it was a free for all for the rest of the day. Well, I already messed up the day, I might as well enjoy it. Then I would start the next day. If I was lucky, I could make it through the day and not mess up again. If I wasn't lucky, it would be a repeat. There were many times that I would start a diet, only to gain weight because of that kind of thinking.

I am just like you. I am in my thirties and managed to put on weight every year since getting out of high school. I was thin in high school (but thought I was fat back then! I would love to have that body back!). I went to college and got sick (sick enough to have to withdraw out of school). It was at that point that I started gaining weight. Over the years, I have tried many different weight loss programs. Obviously, none of them really did the trick for me since it was 2012 and I was well over 200 lbs. (I am only 5'2", so yes, that made me obese). The kicker is that I never really realized exactly how fat I was. I knew shopping was a nightmare and expensive. I hated it. I thought I was semi-happy. I wasn't. I wanted to be able to keep up with my kids, and at my weight, I really wasn't able too nor did I have the energy to.

My name is Susan. I am a 33-year-old woman. I am married. We do not have any children yet. We do have an adorable lab mix named Samantha that we love and cherish. We live in North Florida near Tallahassee. My husband and I moved up here from Gainesville, FL. The move was quite an adjustment. Since moving nearly eight years ago we now have an hour commute to and from work each day.
What Led Me to Obesity
We are fairly busy with working full time and the commute. Being busy and working so much led to eating a lot of fast food. We almost always got something from a drive thru on the way home from work. After getting home neither of us really felt like cooking something for dinner. So we took the easy way out and got something that was bad for us instead of preparing a healthy meal. I also ordered a fattening lunch most days too. I would just take the easy way out and not worry about the effects it was having on my weight and health.

So, What is it Like Being On Nutrisystem?
A typical day on Nutrisystem for me would be to wake up (usually before 8 a.m.) and fix myself a protein shake. I loved the chocolate and the strawberry flavored shakes. Sometimes instead of making a shake I would add the shake packet to my cup of coffee for a yummy, delicious mocha. That way I would get the "wake up call" I needed from the caffeine and the protein from the shake. Best of both worlds, if you ask me.
I would also eat a Nutrisystem breakfast entrée. And of course start drinking my water (Nutrisystem says to drink 8 - 8 oz. glasses of water a day).
A few of my favorite entrees would include the Honey Wheat Bagel or the Blueberry Muffin.
Hi, let me introduce myself...my name is Charlene, I'm a wife and mother of six children and I used to be obese.
I had six children that I couldn't play with, because I was so heavy that my asthma made running around with my kids hard and unpleasant. I spent most of my time sitting on a bench at playgrounds or swinging on the swings, because chasing my children around was difficult.
I also had a severe fear of those tunnel slides...I always thought that I would get stuck half way down because of my size. Looking back my fear may have been a bit irrational, but when you are overweight and already feeling self conscious...well, you know how it goes.
I know my children really just wanted to be with me, whether I could play with them or not, but I also know they really wanted me to play, too. I would sit and watch them giggling and running and having fun and I would get depressed because I wanted to get up and have fun, too. But it wasn't worth the asthma attack I would get.
While it’s every lady’s dream to have a flat mid-section, it takes a lot of commitment and sacrifice to get it. Sitting and dreaming about those abs is much easier than getting up and working for them. The mistake most of us make is looking at the work involved from bird’s eye view and despairing when we think about how long and how hard we have to train. But what most women don’t realize is that they too can have that well-toned stomach if they just committed to making the first step. The journey of a thousand miles begins with just one tiny little baby step.
Speaking of steps, here are a few to set you on your way to getting sexy abs.
1. Change your diet
Believe it or not your diet is the most important element of achieving sexy abs. In fact, is it 80% diet and only 20% exercise.I would advise you arrange a meeting with a dietician and discuss your goals. Most likely your dietician will put you on a high-protein, low-fat, low carb, calorie-controlled diet.
You’ve probably seen the numerous commercials advertising Nutrisystem and the various celebrities they have endorsed the product with rave reviews of success. The concept of Nutrisystem is a simple one: you select a plan that fits your personal dietary needs and then order 28 days of food. The food is delivered to you in perfect portion sizes so you no longer have to bother with attempting to cook healthy meals or measure out the correct portion sizes.
All of the guess work is done and you just have to eat the food and lose the weight. Any sort of diet system like this comes with pros and cons, and Nutrisystem definitely has both:
1. Portion control
One of the major problems that people face when they’re trying to change their eating habits is portion control. We have been brainwashed with the misconception that we have to finish everything on our plates, even while our portion sizes continue to increase. Having pre-portioned meals takes the guess work out of what is the correct portion size and if you’re eating too much or too little.
What is a typical day like in the life of someone on Nutrisystem? Youtuber LoveandCents reviews a day on Nutrisystem.
"I am on the women’s plan. There are several other plans and they vary a little bit. I base everything off the meal planner, which makes it really easy to get all the servings you need every day." she explains.
I had a garden vegetable omelet for breakfast, with grated cheese on top, and apples on the side.
I followed the Nutrisystem meal planner, which consists of a Nutrisystem entrée, which is the omelet, a dairy or protein, and a fruit. The portion sizes for the dairy, protein or fruit are at the back of the meal planner.
For lunch, I had a chicken Quesadilla with a bit of salsa on top, half a cup of steamed carrots, and as much broccoli as I like because it’s unlimited.
Janet Jackson talks about her initiatives to join Nutrisystem® Success™. It was not only her desire to lose weight and keep it off but also her goal to give back to the community that got her on Nutrisystem. Janet created Nutribank, an organization that donates $1 for every pound lost on Nutrisystem. That’s million of dollars to be donated for feeding people who are hungry in 2012.
How Did Your Book “True You” Lead You to Work with Nutrisystem and Nutribank?
Janet: My book “True You” comes out December 15th on paperback. I am very excited about that. I felt it was important to talk about self-esteem, weight issues, and all of those things. People come to me and ask me how I lost weight, how I gained, how did take it off, how did I put it on. What I tell them is the nutrition aspect of it. So, I wanted to do something that would help people understand how the whole thing evolved and the way to do this was to start from the beginning, which was my childhood. So many people, not just women but men too, have come to me and tell me how the relate to the book and the anecdotes.
Janet Jackson, recording artist, actress and now the new spokesperson for Nutrisystem, got interviewed on her recent Nutrisystem experience. Janet's message is: "Make Nutrisystem® Success™ your plan".
Janet, who has been on Nutrisystem® Success™ for a while and has already seen results, was enjoying her favorite Nutrisystem bar right before the interview started. This is why the first question of this interview is:
