My PRWeb Review
I have used PrWeb twice so far and I am very satisfied with their service. Click here to see one of the press releases PRWeb published and distributed for me. My press release announces the results of a poll I conducted on WeightLossTriumph.com about the Solo Slim side effects, of a popular diet pill.
What I Like About PRWeb
What I love about PRWeb is this:
-
They have a very clean, easy to navigate, intuitive website that helps you create your press release literally within minutes. You get all the assistance you need by the website itself and if that is not enough you can get immediate support through Live Chat or a phone call.
- After your PR goes live, you can login to your account and access the Analytics section that contains a host of statistics and information about your release. For example, my PR was distributed to 2,137 Media Outlets from New York Times to Palm Beach Post, and from ABC News to CNN Headline News, through 564,012 impressions. Fifty-four people interacted with my press release (clicked on a link, printed it, downloaded a PDF of it, etc).
What is PRWeb
PRWeb is a “news distribution and online publicity” company. They allow businesses, individuals and non-profit groups to achieve higher internet search rankings, increase internet traffic, grow their sales and garner publicity.
They are not a PR firm in the traditional sense of the word. They do not, as a rule, write press releases, although that option is available as an add-on service, and they do not seek out specific avenues for you to promote your business the way a traditional PR firm might.
What they do is host your press release on their site where news organizations and bloggers can find it and then write about it. The exact services that users receive depend on the package that they select.
There are four packages.
- Basic
- Standard
- Advanced
- Premium
Add-on services are available as well. These include:
- Press release writing
- Press release editing
- Search engine optimization
PRWeb works well for both small and large organizations. I found it to be very easy to use and customer service was friendly and helpful.
When bloggers, magazine editors and others need news to fill their pages or airtime, they may visit PRWeb and search through their press releases for ideas. When you submit a press release to PRWeb, it will be hosted on their site permanently, so that those searching for ideas can find your release and, hopefully, pick it up for a story.
Is PRWeb Worth It? – Key Features and Benefits
The key features depend, as mentioned above, on which package that you choose. Below is an overview of the benefits of each package offered by PRWeb.
-
Basic Package: This includes hosting the press release and allowing it to appear in internet search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo.
-
The Standard Package: Basic features plus distribution to thousands of news outlets.
-
Advanced Package: Standard features plus ensuring the press release has been optimized for search engines and distribution to premium news sites.
-
Premium Package: Advanced features plus the ability to include video and distribution to top level media outlets such as USA Today and the New York Times.
-
If you are in a rush, they have a special package that allows you to get your PR on the web in just one hour!
- If you want to publish your PR without getting involved at all in terms of using the PRWeb website, the Easy Submit package will allow you to just give the text of your PR to the PRWeb folks, along with some instructions, and let them do the rest (formatting, attaching logos, photos, choosing relevant industry categories, etc)
For someone who is unfamiliar with search engine optimization and how to distribute press releases, the benefits are obvious. Even for those who ARE skilled in those areas, PRWeb provides a valuable service with today’s ever changing media.
Even if I had contacts at all of the major news agency, that wouldn’t help my press release get picked up by the thousands of bloggers that may have a following of people in the demographic that I am trying to reach. PRWeb helps me get my press releases not only in front of newspaper and magazine editors, but also in front of bloggers and social media experts.
For bloggers and magazine publishers, PRWeb provides an easy-to-find source of endless news story leads. You can search by topic or keyword and find hundreds of press releases on just about any subject.
PRWeb Cons – Disadvantages
While I have no issues writing my own press releases, I know that not every oen feels the same. For that reason, it would be nice if writing of the press release could be included in a package rather than only being available as a pricey add-on service.
What Stores Might be Better than PRWeb
Key competitors include:
How Does PRWeb Compare to Similar Sites?
I spent some time looking at several competitors’ sites, and was not impressed. Call me shallow, but the look and ease of use of PRWeb’s site was just more appealing to me. Also, they include an impressive list of clients, something that the other sites did not do.
It is difficult to compare pricing, because when it comes to PR, the key is to get as many bloggers and news outlets to see it as possible. PRWeb is very well-known in the world of new media, so even if the prices are higher, it is well worth it.
PRWeb also allows me to choose a package that suits my needs. Some of the others take more of a one-size-fits-all approach. If I want my press release to be picked up by bloggers then there is no need to purchase the premium package.
Because some of the other sites do not have as many – if any – options, I would sometimes be forced to pay for services that I did not want or need.
What is the Cost?
Keep in mind that the prices of the packages do NOT include writing or editing of the press release. PRWeb does, however, have a tool on their Web site that makes it easier to compose an appropriate press release.
- Basic Package – $89 per release
- Standard Package – $159 per release
- Advanced Package – $199 per release
- Premium Package – $369 per release
If you send out a lot of press releases, you may be able to get a discount on the per-release price. Below are some of the prices of add-on service.
- Press release writing – $325
- Editing – $129
- Priority (rush) distribution – $100
- Enhanced placement on PRWeb – $40
As far as a guarantee, there really is not one, and that is what I would expect. When I submit a press release, I am paying PRWeb to host and distribute that release. They offer no guarantee that the press release will get picked up. Once they distribute the release, they have done what I paid them to do.
What are Others Saying?
Bloggers and others looking for story ideas seem to love PRWeb. One blogger said PRWeb has made it very easy to update her blog every day or even more often without the need to be very creative when it comes to ideas. She said that PRWeb provides an endless source of story ideas that are just what her readers want.
Some users say that PRWeb has helped them to improve their search engine rankings and did so without the type of expense that would have been involved using other avenues.
Of course, the results are going to depend on the content of your press release, so not everyone is going to get the same type of positive results. If, however, you submit decently written releases with news worthy content, there is a great chance for success when using PRWeb.
