My Diet Shopz is an online store that was created by the Center for Health and Weight Loss in Woodbridge, Virginia. The Center helps people lose weight and become healthier through education and counseling.
Through helping these people, My Diet Shopz has discovered which foods work for health and weight loss, and which foods people like to eat. And these foods are available, conveniently together, in their online store for shoppers everywhere.
Their website provides shoppers with complete nutritional information, as well as a list of ingredients for all products. How often do we see that?
Products I Personally Tried
For the purpose of this review, I was given (without being remunerated) four products to “test drive”:
-
Snack Bites Barbeque
-
Roasted and Salted Soy Nuts
-
Vegetarian Joe
- Zesty Vegetable Chili with Beans
1. Snack Bites Barbeque
The Snack Bites Barbeque look like cheerios, but taste more like potato crisps. They are delicious. I ate them when I was really hungry, which is an unfair test, because they are intended to be a snack food. But they actually satisfied me, and helped me stave off the hunger until I could get to a real meal.
This is a great low-calorie snack to stash in your glove box or desk drawer. The snack bites come in other flavors as well, but the barbeque is a winner. And you get 12 grams of protein for only 130 calories.
2. Roasted and Salted Soy
The Roasted and Salted Soy Nuts didn’t really flip my switch, but that’s probably because I’m not really into soy nuts. They are incredibly good for you though. I just find that as a snack food, they are a little dull. But if you’re into salt and crunch, then this too would make a great snack. And one pouch will run you 180 calories.
3. Vegetarian Joe
I grew up being force-fed Sloppy Joes in the school cafeteria, so I was pretty doubtful that I would be able to finish off the Vegetarian Joe. Plus, I don’t even like ketchup. And besides, who has ever heard of Vegetarian Joe? Isn’t the point of the Joe the hamburger? But alas, I was wrong. I laugh as I type this, but it was delicious.
Not only would I buy it, but I would have no qualms about feeding it to my family as a meal. It was also fast to make. A single serving took me about five minutes to cook. The serving looked small, but by the time I had finished it, I was satisfied. (And no, I didn’t dump it over a white bun!)
The Joe had lots of flavor and the texture was awesome. I don’t know how something that comes in a microwave pouch can end up feeling like crunchy vegetables, but it worked! And all of this for … are you ready … hold onto your chairs … 90 calories.
4. Zesty Vegetable Chili with Beans
I love chili. So I’m pretty particular about my chili. And Diet Shopz’s chili passed my test. And it is zesty. After one bite, I thought, well that’s not very spicy, but after a few seconds, the kick kicked in! So much that I worried about heartburn, but thankfully, I had none.
Once again, I was full after a single serving, though I liked it enough that I could have eaten another one. There were not very many beans in the chili, and if I get some more of it, I might even add some extra beans. This also took me five minutes to make in the microwave, and rings in at 100 calories.
My Diet Shopz site is user-friendly and easy to navigate. They also offer a wide variety of free samples with orders over $20. They obviously believe in and stand behind the foods they sell!
And just a note: I am a vegan, yet I was still able to find foods that I could eat in this store!
