The 300 Calorie Cookbook Review: How to Make 300 Calorie Meals, Betty Crocker

June 28, 2010 by Stephanie Leave a Comment

It never hurts to eat healthy and now, the lower fat meals you create can still taste just as delicious as those full-fat ones you are used to making.

Regardless of whether you need to lose weight, want to lose weight or just want to eat healthy, there is something in here that is sure to get your taste buds in an uproar. With Betty Crocker’s low-calorie substitution book you can start eating better without sacrificing taste. From main dishes to vegetarian delights this cookbook offers it all! Would you ever believe it that eating 300 calorie meals could be great?

How Does The 300 Calorie Cookbook Work?

This cookbook has 352 pages of pure bliss. All recipes are under 300 calories and offer a healthier spin to some of your favorites.

If you are looking for some new and creative dishes that help to keep the weight off, then I highly recommend this cookbook.

No kitchen is complete without this one! There are so many processed foods on the market today and so many recipes readily available to anyone willing to take a moment to find them. It is hard to determine what is good for you and what is not. There is nothing better than a home cooked meal that is healthy for your heart. This “must have” will arm you with the tools that you need to make wise food choices and prepare all your meals with love without skimping on the flavor.

What Others Are Saying – Does 10 Minute Solution Deliver?

Whether you are a vegetarian or looking to add some more excitement to your dishes you cannot go wrong with this cookbook. I personally own a copy and could not love it more. J. Blazier from Huntsville, AL, has a goal to eat 1500 a day. She tried many recipes, from pork fajitas to couscous stuffed red peppers and a chili with cornbread topping. She found them easy and filling. She says:

"My husband and I decided to lose weight, but we didn’t want to give up cooking at home. This book has been wonderful."

We’ve tried several recipes, and they have all been good, filling, and easy. It doesn’t use a lot of weird ingredients, but mainly focuses on lean meats and smaller serving sizes.

One reviewer from Texas posted on the Amazon Reviews that

“There are also lots of ethnic dishes thrown in if you, for example, are in the mood for Chinese food, Indian food, etc. And the meatless main dishes will make even a hearty carnivore forget what’s missing.”

You do not have to hate meat to love this cookbook! There is something for everyone and every taste bud. Even the pickiest of eaters can find a healthy and satisfying meal inside.

Does It Help You Lose Weight?

Like with anything, if you stay motivated and stick to it you can reduce the weight on the scale. If you incorporate these recipes into your lifestyle there is a chance a new weight could be in store for you. Many reviewers have purchased this tool to get their lives back on track with a healthier way of living and all of them could not be happier. Glenn, who bought this book to help him lose a few pounds, says,

“They contain everyday mostly at hand items. I have made at least 10 recipes in this book and have not be disappointed. If you need an everyday, a weight loss, or a beginner cookbook. You can’t go wrong here.”

Categories of Recipes in the 300 Calorie Cookbook

Owning this cookbook is like having many cookbooks together. The book covers these categories:

  • Center of the Plate
  • Savory Skillet Meals
  • Casseroles and Pot Pies
  • Meatless Main Dishes
  • Sandwiches, Salads, and Pizzas
  • Soups, Stews, and Chilies
  • Slow Cooker Suppers
  • Grilling Good and Easy
  • 30 Min or Less
  • Cooking for Two

Chances are, if you buy Betty Crocker’s book, you will not be using it only when you are on a diet, because you will love the recipes. For a sample list of recipes read A. Chandler’s review.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The recipes taste good and fill you up.

  • Gives you the overall calories and fiber for the recipes that you are creating, which is great for anyone who is counting their calories.

  • The dishes are great and most reviewers enjoyed the variety.

  • Great for beginners and those who do not know how to boil water!

  • Great tips for managing your portions.

Cons

  • May not contain enough pictures of the finished product. Some people enjoy visuals and while some of the dishes are captured in color, many are not.

Problems and Complaints

The only real noticeable complaint that I have read about this product is that it does not have enough pictures. While the recipes are great, sometimes it is helpful to see what the end result will be. Jessica feels that,

“The negative about this book is that every recipe does not have a picture.”

Better Crocker does it again with this amazing 300 calorie or less cookbook. Any chef or beginner will be glad to have this on their shelf. Whether you are trying to lead a healthier lifestyle or need to lose weight this is the perfect product for you. I highly recommend it!
