The total diet consists of eight modules to follow. The first three modules must be followed in order, but the remaining five can be done however desired.
The book also discusses the mental aspects of dieting and weight gain. Ian Smith explains why stress and emotion can play a huge role in weight gain. He also outlines how to help control that over eating and stress.

The majority of readers love Mr. Smith’s book. With this being his fourth dieting book published, it’s a hit. Many consumers love how easy it is to follow and read. The 4 day block is simplistic in nature and enough of a change to keep things interesting.

I think one of the reasons people do not succeed in weight loss is because they do not follow the diets the way they are supposed to. They skip the information the author gives and just go straight to the diet and then wonder why they don't lose weight.
Problems And Complaints
I find it very easy to skew this article with specific complaints while posting vague results. So many users have found that this diet works wonderfully for them that I find it very difficult to list numerous success stories and praises. With that said I did find a few very specific complaints that may be considered.
A few users found the emotional and mental material at the beginning of the book to be annoying. They wanted to jump right to the diet without reading a bunch of extra stuff. Most of these people found the emotional how-to unneeded.
Ruth Bevilacqua said that "the diet is not family or restaurant friendly". Her family members couldn’t deal with the type of foods or portion sizes that were included with this diet. She also found it difficult to prepare multiple meals every day. The same could be said for restaurants. Many restaurants do not sell small portions, or the foods required, by this diet.
Whimsy Taylor said that "the diet was boring for her". Every day a different combination of salad, fruits, veggies, and beans are listed on the meal plain. The wording may change slightly, but none the less these same foods are eaten every day. Also two slices of veggie pizza are only allowed once per month.
The only complaint that I have is that the title is slightly misleading. It would make sense that no diet can show real results in only 4 days. But It’s slightly misleading none the less.
