Vistaprint Review & Coupon Code

What is Vistaprint?

Vistaprint provides a variety of high quality printed products in small quantities for a low price (and, in some cases, for free). This is especially beneficial to small business owners who cannot afford and do not need larger quantities. I availed myself of the company’s free business cards a few years ago, and I was very pleased with the quality of the product.

Vistaprint also offers online services, such as email marketing and free websites, which small business owners can use to their advantage. Individual consumers will find Vistaprint’s invitations, thank you notes, and greeting cards a good value. And both small business owners and individual consumers can put their designs on tote bags, mugs, calendars, t-shirts—the list goes on—for unique, personalized gifts.

Other products offered by Vistaprint include:

  • Brochures
  • Invitations
  • Notepads
  • Thank you notes
  • Calendars
  • Polo shirts
  • Pens
  • Hoodies
  • Self-inking stamps

How Does Vista Print Work?

Is Vistaprint Worth It? – Key Features and Benefits

  • As noted above, Vistaprint has an extensive product line, which makes it easy for a customer to match a logo on numerous types of items. For example, the design on a business card can be duplicated on pens and/or calendars, which an enterprising small business owner can distribute to his or her customers.

  • Vistaprint allows customers to upload their own design to use on an item. Even if the customer is using one of the numerous design templates offered by the site, he or she can still choose details such as the font style, text size, and layout. The item can be as unique as the customer wishes.

  • The site is extremely user-friendly. When designing a business card, the customer first chooses the background, and the card is displayed. The text is added to the card as the customer types it, so he can see exactly how the final product will look. There is also a link to click to watch a video on how to create your card if you need more direction.

But the biggest benefit that this site offers has got to be the large number of items that you can get free. I was able to choose from among forty-five different attractive designs for my free business cards. Yes, I had to pay shipping and handling, but shipping and handling was only $5.67 for 250 quality business cards when I chose the “slow” method, which is twenty-one days.

Are Vista Print Products of Good Quality?

Vistaprint Cons – Disadvantages

  1. Vistaprint’s free merchandise might cost you only shipping and handling, but you will have to accept the fact that “www.vistaprint.com” will appear somewhere on the product. It appears on the back of the free business cards and on the ring around the top of the free pens. If you don’t want Vistaprint’s advertising displayed on your item, you have to pay for it. I think the trade is fair, though.

  2. I could not find any way to zoom in on most of the apparel products in order to assess the quality of the items better. There is a “zoom in” feature when ordering embroidered items, but I could only zoom in on the embroidered logo, and even then, I didn’t feel I was able to view it all that clearly.

How Does Vistaprint Compare To Similar Merchants?

I looked at a couple of other websites that are in direct competition with Vistaprint.

The first was Squizcards, which has a very limited product line compared to Vistaprint. The site offers only waterproof business cards and three related products. As with Vistaprint, customers can choose from among a number of different fonts, colors, and text sizes and determine the alignment of the text. Like Vistaprint, Squizcards allows its customers to upload a custom logo.

Squizcards’ prices are significantly higher than Vistaprint’s, though. Two hundred one-sided business cards cost $53.95 on Squizcards, compared to $32.98 for two hundred fifty of Vistaprint’s highest-priced, premium business cards. Vistaprint’s cards are not waterproof, however.

The second merchant I investigated was professorprint.com. They had a more extensive product line than Squizcards, with eleven items for sale on the site, including business cards, postcards, and post-it notes, but this is still a lot fewer than Vistaprint’s offerings. Like Squizcards and Vistaprint, professorprint.com customers can upload their own design or choose from a wide array of designs offered on the website. They can also further customize elements such as font, colors, and text size as they could on Vistaprint and Squizcards.

Professorprint.com’s prices are normally much higher than Vistaprint’s. They are currently selling for a reduced price, however. Two hundred fifty of their premium business cards are marked down from $49.95 to $37.97, which is only slightly higher than the $32.98 price for similar business cards on the Vistaprint website. They do have free shipping, however, whereas you incur shipping and handling costs when ordering from Vistaprint.

Professorprint.com also offers a cheaper business card on its site—your basic black and white only—for two cents each.

What Is the Cost?

As noted earlier, Vistaprint’s business cards range from free to $32.98 for two-hundred fifty of the highest-priced premium version. Other items that you can get for shipping and handling costs only include pens, checks, bumper stickers, rubber stamps, and car door magnets. You can elect one or more upgrades to add to the free items--for a price, of course. Or you can go for the gold and buy the website’s premium version of the item, which is still a bargain.

Regular prices on customized calendars range from $6.99 for a poster or desk calendar to $15.99 for a wall calendar, but these items are currently discounted to $3.49 for a poster or desk calendar and $7.99 for a wall calendar.

Examples of other prices you will pay for some selected items found on vistaprint.com are:

  • Thank you cards = $9.99 (for 10 cards)
  • Deluxe tote bag = $15.99
  • T-shirt = $9.49
  • Brochures = $39.99 (for 25 brochures)
  • Wraparound mug = $14.99
  • Embroidered hoodie = $49.99

There are some package deals available on the Vistaprint website, too. The starter business package deal that includes 250 premium business cards, 140 return address labels, 1 large stamp, and 1 metal business card holder is regularly priced at $52.96, but it is currently discounted to $29.99.

Shipping costs vary by product and delivery time. As an example, the shipping and handling fees for 250 business cards is provided below:

  • Slow (21 days) = $5.67
  • Standard (14 days) = $9.52
  • Priority (7 days) = $13.68
  • Rush (3 business days) = $26.20

Vistaprint accepts payment via PayPal, check or money order ($10 minimum purchase applies), Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or Diners Card. I have never attempted to cancel an order, but there is a tab on the website for that purpose.

What Are Others Saying? Testimonials – Feedback – Comments

A customer testimonial pops up when you click on a specific product on the website. The full name, city and state, and business name, if any, of the reviewer is provided, lending credibility to the testimonials.

I looked at reviews by both individuals and business owners for items as diverse as business cards, t-shirts, and wedding invitations. These reviewers praised the high quality, low cost products that the site offers, and more than one mentioned the ease of use of the website.

Reviews posted on external sites are not as positive. For the most part, the quality of the products and ease of use of the site wasn’t an issue, but some reviewers complained that there were hidden costs that they were unaware of when they placed their order. One reviewer didn’t like the constant emails he received from Vistaprint after having ordered business cards from them, and a couple of people complained about the customer service they received—although one fellow who was originally unhappy with the customer service on the Vistaprint site was very pleased with the service he received when he telephoned the company.
