The Wii has spurred tons of fitness products. It has been a great platform to create some new innovative in-home fitness interactive programs. The console itself was praised so highly because it got kids off the couch and moving again. A great side effect was how much fun the family started having together while playing some of the great party style games. But, home fitness found its little niche’ with interactive workouts that could be monitored and changed in real time.
It is the next evolutionary step to home fitness DVDs. But eventually, everyone needs a little extra push in their workout. Weights are a great way to provide that. But most of the fitness programs require holding the controller in the user’s hand, making hand weights difficult to use. That is why, I think these Ankle or Wrist Weights may be worth taking a look at.
How Do The "Wii Ankle or Wrist Weights" Work?
While you use your Balance Board you can have extra resistance to your Wii Fit workouts with 2 Velcro strapped Wrist/Ankle weights. You just have to use the hook and loop the Velcro strapping system to fit these comfortable weights around your ankles or wrists quickly and easily.
These wrist and ankle weight are not anything outside of the normal strap on wrist weights. They are just targeted for the Wii. They add weight of about 1 pound and 1.6 ounces each to your wrists or ankles. It is also evry important that these Wrist/Ankle weights are not burdensome as they provide an adequate amount of weight to your wrists or ankles.
Each weight comes preset and straps on the users wrists or ankles to provide an extra challenge to the workout. They are very easy to adjust. They are a great way to give an extra boost to your Wii work out. You can even use them while you are walking or running or jogging too.
What Are Others Saying? Do the "Wii Ankle Or Wrist Weights" deliver?
The concept behind these are simple and hard to go wrong with. It’s not a more complicated game, diet pill, or routine that has a lot that can push a person a wrong way. Most people that purchased this product were fairly happy. Martin had trouble getting used to them at first. He uses the weights while playing Wii tennis and other games. Now he cannot play without them.
And both Martin and Shawna commented on their construction. Both thought they were comfortable and well made. Shawna did mention that they do not slip around or move a lot. I think that would be a big plus since most exercise routines have the arms swinging everywhere. They are very adjustable to. Laura had no problem getting them to fit. The Velcro adjustable straps will work for just about anyone.
How Much Weight Will I Lose?
The weights themselves will not really help you lose weight unless you use them in conjunction with another program. But they can help you if you are looking for a bit more of a challenge or if you want to get rid of that last little hump and lose a few extra pounds. These are more of an add-on tool to better assist other programs. But if used properly, they will help whatever program is currently being used to be much more effective.
Precautions
I would recommend a person with very slender arms to wear some type of clothing under these straps. Although they are very adjustable, I have found some people say they slip a little with really skinny arms. This could cause some chaffing and irritated skin.

- They are very easy for you to adjust them and tehy fit really well on your wrists.

Problems And Complaints
These are a one size fits all solution. But weight cannot be added or removed from this product. Being able to add or reduce the weight can really make these more useful. Different resistance levels could be used for different activities to better tweak each workout, or just extend the life of the weights.
The "Wii Ankle Or Wrist Weights" ideal for a variety of routines and activities
All though these are targeted towards the Wii, they are not anything special. They can be used with a wide variety of exercise routines or activities. I like the idea of wrist weights rather then hand weights because they do not feel so clumsy. They can be very unobtrusive too. Personally, while following different fitness DVDs I find I hit myself with hand weights. Sometimes I can be a little clumsy. These are a much better option for me.
Thinking outside the box a little, the Wii has a lot of heavy hand motion with the remote. Just about all the games are designed for the remote to be waived around. Adding these weights while simply playing a game can add a lot of definition and toning over a little bit of time.
