Unlike many of their competitors, AN Hosting do not have an FAQs section in their site. If you ask for answers to FAQs they will forward you to the FAQ page of their sister company Westhost. While they do offer online chat and phone support, an on site knowledge database that answers to common questions would add a great benefit to AN Hosting’s strong presence.

Another disadvantage of this company is that the hype sounds better than it looks in reality:

99.9% up time is actually 99% which equals to about 20 hours of downtime in 6 months.

I looked into two other web hosting companies to see how they compare to AN Hosting.

The first company I looked into was Fat Cow. The first thing I noticed is that Fat Cow has now gone green and power 100 % of their operation with wind energy. However, Fat Cow's money back guarantee is only for 30 days, while AN Hosting offers an anytime money back guarantee for the unused portion of your plan. Unlike Fat Cow, ANHosting chat support appears to not be available on holidays. I tried to chat with an ANHosting assistant on January 1st 2012 and I got the following message:

"The department you are attempting to contact is offline. Please send us an e-mail and we will address your question as quickly as possible."

Neither Fat Cow nor AN Hosting offer VPS or dedicated hosting packages. Big names in the host industry, such as Hostgator and MidPhase, do offer VPS and dedicated hosting.

The second company I researched was Blue Host. They, too, offer unlimited space and bandwidth. Both companies offer pretty much the same prices and the same services. Both companies offer around the clock customer service and both companies provide you with advertising credits to help you promote your new web presence, or change of web address. However, Blue Host does not have the anytime money back guarantee. That feature seems to be unique to AN Hosting, as I have not seen any other company offer that. Neither Anhosting nor Bluehost offer VPS or dedicated servers. In addition, neither of them offers plans on Windows servers.
