The Weight Loss Center of Oklahoma is a premier bariatric surgery facility serving those suffering from obesity in the Oklahoma City Metroplex and surrounding areas. By offering potentially life-saving procedures such as gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y), gastric sleeve, gastric banding (Lap-Band® and Realize® Band) and a new procedure called iBand, or Imbricated Band, patients have the opportunity to improve or resolve many of the diseases associated with obesity. These diseases, also called co-morbidities can range from adult-onset diabetes to sleep apnea, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

First Robotic Bariatric Surgery in Oklahoma City
In late 2010, Dr. Gornichec performed the first robotic bariatric surgery in Oklahoma at Oklahoma City’s Deaconess Hospital. This gastric bypass procedure assisted by a robot was a great success and dozens of similar procedures have been performed since.
Oklahoma City has been consistently ranked as one of the unhealthiest cities in the country over the past several years. As a result, there have never been more Oklahomans that need help in the form of life-changing bariatric surgery procedures.
But weight loss surgery requires the patient to meet certain qualification criteria including a minimum Body Mass Index (BMI) as well as other standards to ensure that the surgery is indeed necessary.

Next Steps in Your Bariatric Surgery Journey: Attend Free Bariatric Seminars
The best way for those in the Oklahoma City area to learn more about bariatric surgery and the options available to them at the Weight Loss Center of Oklahoma is to attend a free seminar held by Dr. Gornichec each and every month. These seminars are very informative and will cover topics such as which procedure may be right for you as well as possible outcomes. They will allow the patient to meet some of the staff and even a patient or two who have already undergone the surgery.
Seminars take place in Deaconess Hospital, Lakeside Hospital, and designated rural areas across Oklahoma State.
Bariatric surgery is an ongoing process that requires dedication both before surgery and for the rest of the patient’s life. After the surgery, patients may need to take nutritional supplements in order to guard their health from potential nutritional deficiencies. Dr. Gornichec stands by his patients to optimize their health post-surgery with quality supplements provided by established companies in the field of bariatric supplements, such as Bariatric Advantage and Wellness International. Choosing the right surgeon is the first step in changing a patient’s life for the better.
